#128 - 6 Steps To Improving Self Discipline In 2022

In this week’s post we will give you six steps in improving your self discipline. As a runner who is currently training for my first ever marathon in a few weeks, I need discipline to get enough sleep. I need discipline to wake up early in the dark and the cold in order to get my raining miles in. As a coach who train beginners to run race events, I must practice what I preach. Whether you are going on a new diet, training for an athletic event or setting family goals like a vacation in 2022, self discipline is needed.

Hello, my name is Coach Tadris Parker and I love helping people reach their health goals. My blog posts are my notes for my weekly podcast.

6 Steps To Improving Self Discipline;

  1. Find a reason or reward for changing (Your family, your personal health)

  2. Protect yourself from yourself. (Remove things from the home that does not help you reach your goals.)

  3. Accountability Partners (Enlist a friend to join you. Or join a group to keep you focused on your goals)

  4. Self Punishment/Self Reward (Before you get to do what you WANT to do, you first do what you MUST do!)

  5. Change Your Identity (You no longer consider yourself fat, slow, or unworthy. Instead you are athletic, pretty quick and worthy of anything.)

  6. Follow Through (Don’t quit on your goals after a few weeks. A new habit begins to stick after 30 days. What will happen if you followed through for 90 days on your goals?)

A New Year, A New You (Nonsense)

A new you does not happen just because the calendar changed to a new year. A new year, a new you is fake news. A new you is 100% based on your new habits. Change your habits, change your life. You Got This!

Tip Of The Week:

Some sessions are stars and some are stones.

In the end they are all rocks and we build upon them - Chrissie Wellington

Our practice and even some races will not always be our best. We need the bad practices as much as the good ones. Each race and practice good or bad are the building blocks to our personal best. - Coach Tadris

Highlight Of The Week

Chris came out to practice on Tuesday and we threw the broken mile training on her. Chris has never ran a sub 1o-minute mile, but I think that she is very well on her way.
