#197 - Running Motivation: Developing Winning Habits & The Philadelphia Broad Street Run

Running Motivation is for anyone looking to start a running journey, or those looking to step up to your next milestone race event. Walking Motivation is for anyone who feels like their running days are in the past. We encourage you to start where you are; walk, run, and learn the run, walk, run method to cover any race distance pain-free. Coach Tadris Parker is fueled by continuously listening to podcasts and books that inspire him, then he brings that motivation and inspiration to his blog/podcast. Listen to the audio clip below to find that motivation to lace up your sneakers for your next walk or run. Learn all about this at Keep Calm and Run To The Best You!

Quote of the Week:

“You become what you think about!”

This week’s post was inspired by some takeaway’s from Brian Tracy’s book “Million Dollar Habits”

1. Daily Goals (think about your goals daily)

2. Results Oriented (Keep a journal & write out your goals. Look at that list and ask: What if I have to leave for a trip tomorrow that I need to take care of before I leave? Work on that answer FIRST. Discipline yourself to work on that one thing until it is completed.)

3. People Orientated (Help enough people and they help you back)

4. Health Oriented (Think about your health most of the time)

5. Self Discipline (Think about being disciplined most of the time)

You can apply all of these steps to both your running and overall health. When creating your next running goal, think about what result you want. Pick a time that you want to complete the race in. Visualize the result you want and who you may need to pass on the course to get there. Think about who you may help along the way. We help others by inspiring them with our consistency. We take it to the next step, by inviting others out with us for a walk or run. Think about your health most of the time before grabbing a bite to eat. Think about how it will effect your next run, your next race, your wieght and your sleep tonight. All of the above takes self-discipline, and that’s just like you, a self-disciplined machine.

It doesn’t matter if you had a pattern of no discipline in the past, if you believe you have it now, you will succeed.
