#195 - Running Motivation; It's Not Always Easy

Running Motivation is for anyone looking to start a running journey, or those looking to step up to your next milestone race event. Walking Motivation is for anyone who feels like their running days are in the past. We encourage you to start where you are; walk, run, and learn the run, walk, run method to cover race distance pain-free. Coach Tadris Parker is fueled by continuously listening to podcasts and books that inspire him, then he brings that motivation and inspiration to his blog/podcast. I RUN FOR MORE THAN MYSELF:

It's not always easy to show up for yourself. You have to tap into your "why" and show up for that. - Coach Tadris

THIS AIN'T ALWAYS EASY!

Day 1,255 of #coachtadrisstreak ✅ WALK or RUN a MILE per DAY!
(Facebook Post on Sunday, April 9th, 2023)

KEEPING IT REAL w/ YALL

Last night I had a depression that came over me like nobody's business. I ate whatever I could get my hands on last night to the point I woke up choking 😢

I RUN FOR MORE THAN MYSELF:

Somehow I woke up and got my butt to the track despite waking up irritated from last night. I gave it all I had this afternoon! I showed up because others are counting on me to be great. It's not always easy to show up for yourself. You have to tap into your "why" and show up for that.

I JUST KNEW:

I just knew that today's mile test would be terrible! Then I told myself that "One night shouldn't undo all the speed drills you did over the last month" So I did the FULL warm-up (members of #runtothebestyou know what I mean) I messed around and did ONE MINUTE & FIFTEEN SEC faster than my last mile test on 2/28/23

JUST SHOW UP:

Just show up and you never know what can happen. You MUST show up even on days you don't feel like it. If someone asks me why I run or Walk so much I'd say:

"I do it for my mental health, I do it to inspire others, and I do it for those that can't. As I use my exercises, also as fundraisers for charities.

Public Responses:

Lara Justine:

“I’m sorry you were feeling bad! You are inspiring to get back up and out the door. You got this.”

Chris Ballard:

Just remember everyone has down days & that’s perfectly normal. Proud of you for getting up & crushing that mile test! You are awesome!

Dawn Ruiz:

I’m sorry you felt down last night, but glad you got out there and did your thing! Awesome time, but more importantly, I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better!

Thank you for being the leader that always goes 1st! Your example is the catalyst that many of us need! Thank you for being vulnerable! I know that’s not easy, but so important to show the REAL you and not just the highlight REEL! People are watching you and you show all sides of yourself, inspiring people to do the same and also telling others that they are not alone if they are feeling the same way.

Have a Blessed rest of your Sunday!🌟 See you on the track!

Coach Tadris:

“Dawn Devlin Ruiz thank you for such a thoughtful expression. It means a ton. I may talk about this on next week's podcast.

Seriously, thank you.”
