These blog posts are my notes for the podcast. Press play to hear me go into detail on the subjects below. To take a deeper dive into the subject consider buying the book.
My Early Takeaways From The TB12 Method
The Legend:
A man that has been playing quarterback for 20 years! Gone to 10 Super Bowls. Still playing at the age of 44. By the way, won 7 of those 10 Super Bowl Appearances.
What Is Pliability:
the quality of being easily bent; flexibility.
"an excellent combination of strength, pliability, and elasticity"
Tom Brady believes as we age we need to spend more time making our muscles pliable. We can make our muscles pliable through a series of techniques; With a partner, vibrating foam rollers, and self. (Using our thumbs)
Working Out:
Trainers tell people to work out their upper body Mon/Wed
(Lower body Tues/Thursday) TB12 suggests that we work out the whole body at once.
Water:
Tenderloin vs Jerky
When we are hydrated our muscles are more like a juicy tenderloin. When we are dehydrated, our muscles are like a piece of beef jerky.
Coffee and alcohol are dehydrating. We must rebalance them by drinking two glasses of water for every cup of caffeine or alcohol 2:1.
Seltzer water has less oxygen than regular water and has a dehydrating effect.
Add electrolytes to your water throughout the day.
Drink half your body weight in ounces of water.
Balance and pace your water intake throughout the day.
Drink 1-2 glasses upon waking.
Don't overdrink during meals. That will disturb your digestion.
My final thought on the TB12 Method is this:
If he can still play NFL football at a high level at 44 years old, by focusing on pliability. How much longer can we continue to run without getting hit by 300 lbs men?
Tom Brady’s balance when it comes to diet and nutrition is equally impressive and well worth considering. All you hear people talk about is his avocado ice cream, I say don’t knock it until you try it…… he included the reciepe in the book. Just saying!

How To Achieve A Lifetime Of Sustained Peak Performance
Tip of The Week:
Be a minuteman
“The biggest mistake that new runners make is that they tend to think in mile increments—1 mile, 2 miles, 3 miles. Beginning runners need to think in minutes, not miles.” —Budd Coates, four-time U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier/coach
Runny Nose 5k

Nice trail run with Jessica Young and Chris Ballard. First time we ever did this race. We got lost, as did many others on this brisk Saturday morning in the woods. We still had a great time. Happy to be alive and running and meeting some great people. On the podcast I interviewed a father named Ken with his two sons.
