Quote of The Week:

Inspiration gets you to the starting line. Motivation gets you to the finish line.

My running lesson learned the hard way this particular week was showing up to the race early and warming up too aggressively. I arrived at the event 90 minutes early. That was nice. I proceeded to warm up by doing a easy 3 miles before the 9 am start of the 5k. The issue was the humidity was high early in the day and I was not monitoring my heart-rate. This caused me to overdo it during the warm-up miles. This in turn caused a struggle during the race. Lesson learned! During your warm-up miles, keep your heart-rate in blue - green zone only.

I enjoyed the Run With The Sharks 5k in Long Beach Island, NJ. Award ceremony was held at Ship Bottom Brewery. Great event all around.

Here are a few lessons others shared:

Donna Stelter: Wearing new shoes in a marathon 😂😂 It’s like having one more shot of tequila, you know it’s not a good idea… and you do it anyway 💃😂

Larry Crockett: Don't come home from work angry and go for a run or at least not a long run. I did and ended up with stress fractures, canceling my half marathon for the year. It was because I ran harder and farther than I was scheduled for because I was mad.

Neman Soumilas: You always and I mean always need Glide

Christen Yacoviello: 💯 take a rest day, especially after your long run. I strained my glut before my half and it was an 8 week recovery.
