Running Tips of the Week:

Beginner Run Tip of the Week:

Tip #1. WATCH THE CLOCK, NOT THE DISTANCE

"The biggest mistake that new runners make is that they tend to think in mile increments -1 mile, 2 miles, 3 miles. Beginning runners need to think in minutes, not miles." —Budd Coates, four-time U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier/coach

Intermediate Run Tip of the Week:

#17. EACH STEP IS WORTHWHILE

“So-called ‘junk miles’—those slow miles done on easy days or during warmups—do count. They burn calories as effectively as fast miles; it just takes longer. Regardless of pace, each mile you run burns about 100 calories.” —Hal Higdon, runner/writer/coach

Intermittent Fasting Tip of the Week:

#51. DEVELOP A HEALTHY MORNING
 ROUTINE

"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude." —
Maya Angelou

Don’t wake up and reach for that coffee and donut. Instead, go for a walk, run, or hit the gym in a fasted state. This will help you burn fat first thing in the morning, and set your day up for success. - Coach Tadris

Weight Loss Tip of the Week:

Bring Your Snacks To The NFL Parties:

Advertisers get paid well to make us sick. Then society wants to sell us medication to make us better which comes with 15 possible side effects. Make it make sense. It doesn't. Be your health care by avoiding or minimizing how much of the crunchy, salty mainstream snacks you eat. Run To The Best You! - Coach Tadris

Shout Out of the Week:

Melissa Southrey 2022

My final tip is tied to the Melissa Southrey 2022 story!

23. TRAIN SMART TO AVOID BURNOUT

“Any idiot can train himself into the ground; the trick is doing the training that makes you gradually stronger.” —Keith Brantly, U.S. Olympic marathoner

Melissa Southrey in 2022 accomplished so much without burnout. Melissa joined our program in 2021 to run her first 5k before she turned 60. What she didn’t expect, was that she would be inspired to run a 5k, 4-miler, 8k, 5-miler & half marathon all in 2022.

I love this photo as Melissa finishes this race with plenty of gas in the tank to pass this woman down the stretch! Thank you for creating memories with us Melissa! I Love You. - Coach Tadris
